Lower your baby's risk of SIDS

SIDS, a sudden death of an apparently healthy baby, is quite frightening as it has no apparent warning signs. Experts recommend placing babies on their backs to sleep, using a firm mattress, removing toys and pillows from the crib, and keeping the baby from getting too warm.

Research has also found that using a fan in the baby's room was associated with a 72% lowered risk of SIDS. SIDS may be caused by a brain abnormality that keeps the baby from gasping and waking up when he or she isn't getting enough oxygen.

More detailed information on SIDS and things to consider are in the article "Fans lower risk for sudden baby death."
